ETRiS has expanded its tsunami risk data products with 111 new empirical vulnerability curves covering two major tsunami events: the 2011 Great East Japan (Tōhoku) Tsunami and the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami.
For the Tōhoku event, the update introduces new vulnerability curves for industrial building types, covering a range of maritime and non-maritime port-related industries.
For the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami, the new products focus on detached single-storey unreinforced masonry houses in Sri Lanka. The building type is represented across 21 administrative areas, reflecting the geographic structure of the available post-tsunami damage and construction data.
The new curves further expand the empirical vulnerability products available through ETRiS for probabilistic tsunami risk analysis.
