Open-Access Cookbook for Probabilistic Tsunami Hazard and Risk Analysis

A new open-access book, “Probabilistic Tsunami Hazard and Risk Analysis: A Cookbook”, has been published by Springer, bringing together international expertise and best practices in probabilistic tsunami hazard and risk analysis.

The volume was developed by a global team of 68 tsunami researchers and is intended to provide a common scientific basis for Probabilistic Tsunami Hazard Analysis (PTHA) and Probabilistic Tsunami Risk Analysis (PTRA). It presents both the fundamental components of tsunami hazard and risk assessment and practical examples showing how these methods can be applied in real-world settings.

Fatemeh Jalayer, ETRiS Coordinator, is one of the editors, contributed to several chapters, including the sections on frameworks for assessing tsunami hazard and risk, exposure modeling, and the book’s concluding synthesis.

The book is available Open Access and is designed as a resource for researchers, engineers, practitioners, decision-makers, and organizations working on tsunami risk reduction and coastal resilience.
