ETRiS team members were closely involved in shaping the scientific and technical discussions at the TCS Tsunami Risk Workshop, held on 4–5 June 2026 in Potsdam, Germany.
The workshop brought together members of the TCS Tsunami community to review the current status of tsunami risk-related services and identify priorities for future developments. Discussions covered new risk services for the EPOS delivery pipeline, Jupyter Notebooks, potential EPOS ICS-D use cases, decision-making under PTHA/PTRA uncertainty, and opportunities for stronger synergies with the Global Tsunami Model (GTM )community.
Fatemeh Jalayer, serving as lead of the Risk Topic Group, introduced the objectives and expectations for the workshop and the newly formed group, helping frame discussions around priorities, future products, and longer-term directions for tsunami risk services.
ETRiS team were involved across several technical areas. Hossein Ebrahimian took part in discussions on human exposure products, vulnerability of populations and the built environment, and financial consequence products. Jingren Wu contributed to the vulnerability-products session, including discussions on empirical vulnerability curves and analytical fragility curves. Saeed Soltani was involved in sessions on evacuation modeling and related products, as well as discussions on PTRA use cases for EPOS ICS-D and their development through Jupyter Notebooks.
The workshop concluded with discussions on integrating risk products into the EPOS delivery infrastructure, developing ICS-D use cases and Jupyter-based workflows, and defining realistic goals and a roadmap for future tsunami risk products, with attention to multi-risk interoperability and wider scientific collaboration.
