Deadline to apply: 7 June 2023
This is a one-year postdoctoral scholarship with possibility to extend. The postholder will be based in UCL IRDR working with Prof. Fatemeh Jalayer on damage-dependent fragility and consequence modelling for cascading events such as aftershocks and tsunamis. The damage-dependent fragilities have grand applications in multi-hazard impact forecasting and in catastrophe modelling. This work will be conducted in close collaboration and knowledge exchange with the stakeholders (e.g., practitioners, public administration, insurance and re-insurance industry) to meet their needs and to provide harmonized and interoperable fragility and vulnerability products. The work will be conducted on building typologies, selected based on the needs and interests of the stakeholders. This postdoctoral project is configured in a multi-hazard risk modelling context and will use UCL’s computational facilities and IRDR’s brand new server for multi-risk scientific computing. The postholder will benefit from the IRDR research networks and environments and is expected to contribute to the institutes’ activities and events. The post is based at UCL in London.
